It's amazing to realize that the another year is quickly coming to a close. 2011 was a wonderful year for the refuel – Night of Worship events as we saw the real life connection of worship and ministry to the needy come together through our food drives and with the highlighting of We've Got Your Back San Diego at each of the worship nights. We were extremely blessed to partner with Got Your Back and look forward a continued relationship in 2012 as that ministry expands into more schools and adds more needy kids to its list of food recipients. I hope that you’ll join us in continuing to support Got Your Back as well as refuel with your prayers and involvement.

The reFuel leadership team is already looking toward the upcoming year and praying for God’s continued direction for our worship events! Our leadership team would like to thank Craig and Galyn LaMaster of the Oceanside Vineyard for graciously offering to host the February reFuel event!

The hope for this year is move the refuel events around to several churches in different parts of North County. So please let us know if you have contacts at a church that would be willing host a refuel – Night of Worship event!

Our mission is to provide a place for people from different churches and denominations to gather with the express purpose of worshiping God together; with the primary vehicle for that being music. The specific aim is that attendees of the refuel events would be strengthened in their faith, encouraged by the community of believers, refreshed by the presence and power of God, drawn to know our Savior more intimately and reenergized to live more devoted lives in His service in their families, workplace, neighborhoods and churches.

The reFuel event is dedicated to worshipping God through contemporary/modern music. The worship time is specifically designed to allow attendees plenty of opportunity to linger in God’s presence and to respond to Him as they feel led. The atmosphere is causal and the lighting is set to help facilitate intimate worship and undistracted focus on God. Worshippers express themselves to God in a variety of ways: with hands raised and/or standing, kneeling, clapping, singing, praying and sometimes even dancing.

One of the unique features of reFuel is that the entire night is dedicated to worship through music and the arts (primarily painting). Often the worship leader will give exhortations and/or read scripture during the course of worship; however the night does not include a formal teaching or planned sermon. ReFuel events do include a love offering to allow attendees the opportunity to give toward the expenses of the monthly event, as they feel led to. Since there are no paid staff members all proceeds go directly toward the costs associated with the event itself.

Its board of directors leads the non-profit reFuelNOW ministry: Brent Helming, his wife Kelly, and Bill and Sue McLeod. Both Brent and Bill are ordained ministers with many years of pastoral and ministry experience. Currently Brent and Bill support their local churches through service in a non-staff capacity.
